Do You Have a Gravatar? You Should!

Are you are reading and commenting on blogs?

If so, I’d like to tell you about a little known and super easy tool that, it seems, most coaches haven’t discovered yet. It’s a simple little system called Gravatar.

What the heck?

A Gravatar is a Globally Recognized Avatar.

The Gravatar website explains it’s purpose well,

“Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog.”

Get Yours

In about 5 minutes or less you can set up your free Gravtar account. You tell it which photo you’d like to display with which email address and that’s it! From then on, every time you comment on someone’s blog, your photo displays next to your comment rather than some generic icon.

If you want to change your Gravatar, all you need to do is log in and replace your photo. Then everywhere you’ve commented gets updated (I did this recently because I’ve decided to go from blonde to my natural brown). Very cool and very easy!

The Simple Benefit of Having a Gravatar

If you are reading and commenting on blogs, anyway, you may as well get the added benefit of an image (of your choosing) displaying next to your comment. It makes your comment even more engaging and other readers of the blog will be much more likely to click on your picture to find out more about you.

Providing your comments are relevant to the article and add value, your Gravatar could be the little extra touch that helps someone decide to check you out. If you include a link to your email subscription page, it’s a great way to pick up a few extra subscribers yourself with very little effort on your part.
