Discover Your Coaching Niche
Discover a coaching niche that's perfectly suited to your passion and expertise. Or use it as a business coach to help your clients to narrow down their ideal niche.
I've been there myself. Desperately wanting to leave a job that wasn't fulfilling. I had a psychology degree and years of experience as a trauma counsellor and thought it would be easy to get a coaching business up and running. I couldn't have been more wrong.
When I started to struggle, I bought some coaching templates and that helped me get my business more organised and I was able to start coaching with Pro-Bonos.
However, whenever I tried to start posting on social media, my mind would go blank...
And when I thought about charging for coaching, I thought with my experience I should be charging a reasonable amount... But... The thought of actually asking people for money, or marketing the fact that I was selling coaching sessions just locked me right up. I couldn't bring myself to do it.
It was only when I went through a coaching program about changing my mindset about valuing myself, valuing my skills and valuing my experience that I was able to get working on my business.
I started posting regularly and created a podcast called Get Your Dream Business Unstuck.
And in June 2023, I bought the template business Universal Coaching Systems (UCS) from which I'd bought the template package back in 2017. I knew that the UCS products would absolutely be perfect to go alongside my mindset coaching, to help my clients get their coaching businesses unstuck.

10 Ways To Get Traffic To Your Coaching Website
by Jenny Mitchell | Nov 20, 2023 | New Coaches Start Here
What’s the point of having a website for your coaching business if no one sees it? Does your website feel like the tree that falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound? Now more than ever, it is incredibly important that your website get traffic. The COVID-19 pandemic has made face-to-face meetings and networking events impossible in many areas of the world and you need to make it easy for your ideal clients to find you online.
The number one thing that you need to make that a reality is people actually going to your website. Not to mention actually selling your programs, products, workshops or whatever else you want to offer.
What is Website Traffic?
In the most basic of explanations, website traffic is the amount of people who visit your website. Traffic is the way most people and businesses determine if your website is successful. If you are curious and want a more in-depth elucidation of this topic, I would suggest reading this article, “What is Website Traffic and how to interpret it”.
1. Advertising
I wanted to start with advertising, because it is the only method of generating website traffic that should cost you money.
There are so many opportunities to advertise your website! Depending on the audience you are looking for and the kind of advertising you want to do, the options are really endless and there will always be something that will fit your budget. You can use social media advertising, Google Ads, or even advertise on other websites that you think will attract like-minded people.
2. Social Media is Actually Your Friend
We are constantly told that social media is not good for us, but guess what, the average person spends about 2 hours a day on social media platforms and this can help your business get the website traffic you need.
Here are a few things you can do on any social media platform that will help increase your website traffic:
Share and promote your website content ALWAYS! You should have a business page and should use it zealously.
Join groups (or even start your own group) where you can build community with others and share your knowledge and authority. Helping others in the groups and being an active member is a surefire way to increase your website traffic.
Post your content on LinkedIn. It is a great resource that is often overlooked.
3. Eye-Catching Headlines
First impressions are really important when it comes to your content. This means that your articles or blog posts need to have headlines that catch a person right away. Boring headlines will be passed over every time and there is a fine art to creating good headlines. You don’t have to be a headline artist though. I admit, my ability to write headlines is subpar, but this list of online tools may help you as they have helped me.
4. Use that Email List!
Your email list is an essential part of your business for many reasons, and getting traffic to your website is definitely one of them. Sending out content rich, personable emails to your list using your natural voice (meaning try not to sound salesy or spammy) will bring people to your website.
5. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
For those new to the term Search Engine Optimization (SEO), what this means is getting traffic to your website through search engines, usually Google. For a great resource on how coaches can get leads from Google, check out this podcast from Coach Pep Talk.
SEO is a huge part of getting website traffic and can seem very overwhelming. But I promise you it is not that complicated. It is completely doable and just takes a little time and research. A great place to start is with this article “SEO Basics: Beginner’s Guide to SEO Success”.
6. Be a Guest Author
Being a guest author on other websites is a fabulous way to share your content and bring people back to your website. There are so many benefits of being a guest author including:
Bringing traffic to your website
It helps your site rank better on Google (SEO!)
It increases the reach of your content
It builds authority
It builds connections with those in your field
Being a guest author is truly one of the easiest ways to market yourself and bring traffic to your website with just a little time and at no cost.
7. Interview Experts and Authorities
A magnificent way to get traffic to your website is to interview those that are leaders in your field. It is not impossible to get people in the big leagues to agree to an interview for your website. This is free marketing for them and in turn they share the interview to their followers and there you go… traffic! So go send an email to that coach whom you look up to, or who you connect with, or who you know has a huge following!
8. Have a kick ass website
If your website is outdated, slow, confusing or not mobile-responsive, you will lose traffic. Having a website that is awesome is a MUST! Besides having incredible content, it must be fast, safe, and it must be well maintained.
Nothing will decrease your website traffic like a site that is unusable or hard to navigate. If you feel like your website could be better, feel free to contact me and I can go over your website with you!
9. Link to Others
When you write an article for your website and include links to other articles on other websites, this often creates a trackback or pingback. A trackback/pingback notifies the author of the article you linked to and if the author approves it, it will show a link to your article at the end of theirs. This is perfectly illustrated in this article, “What, Why, and How-To’s of Trackbacks and Pingbacks in WordPress”.
10. Link to Yourself
Linking to others isn’t the only way that links can help you increase the traffic on your website. Linking to yourself is also a great way to gain traffic! The more links that you have that take people down a rabbit hole on your website, the better your SEO will be and the more useful it will be for the visitor.
So there you have it, 10 ways to increase the traffic to your coaching website. Do some of them or do all of them! And these are not the only options, I have included a list of resources below that may help you find more that will suit your needs. If you have any questions, please leave a comment!
